MEDICINAL
PLANTS
World famous botanist Sir
Henry had classified all the medicinal plant areas in the world into seven parts and
passed a judgment that there is no medicinal plant area left in the world which can become
the eighth one. Later Dr. H. F. Muni, the Director of the Eastern State Agency came to the
Bailadila Reserve Forest area of Dantewada several times between 1938 and 1943 to carry
out the survey of the Medicinal Plants found in this area. After through survey he was
awarded PhD for documenting the Eight Area of the medicinal plants of the world.
It can be concluded from
above that if only the Bailadila Reserve Forest of the Dantewada district can make the
"Eight Chapter" in Sir Henry's documentation then the whole of Dantewada can
prove to be a paradise for the one interested in Medicinal Plants. The Dantewada district
of Chattisgarh lies on the Gondwana Biodiversity Zone, which mostly comprises of the
Tropical Forests.
As this area is full of
terrains, much of the forest remains unexplored and it is highly probable that this area
contains some of the undocumented species.
Out of the many precious Medicinal Plants that are
available in the dense forests of district Dantewada some are of very rare verity, which
easily fall in the Plant on the verge of Extinction category.
The below shown is a list
of such kind of plants.
